Women lead the building of self-rule in Cizre

Inhabitants of Şırnak’s Cizre district, where state terror left 21 civilians dead earlier this month, hold vigil in neighborhoods against the special operation police teams that still attempt to conduct detention operations in the wake of the declaration of self-rule by locals.

Undertaking a leading role in the building of a democratic system in their town, women of Cizre are distributing the daily supplies they have collected to the families who lost their houses during the nine days of curfew.

Besides this collective solidarity, women are also closing the entrances of streets with the curtains they themselves sew.

Holding vigil to hinder probable house raids by state forces, women say they will no more allow special operation police to enter their neighborhoods and detain or attack the people.
