Convergence, Divergence Borders

Severe crisis have resulted from the fragility of the real ties between the nationals states, peoples and components, and from the political, economic, social and moral conditions witnessed by the region and reached very dangerous stages, which contributed to the development of new maps for the region, and may eventually lead to the division of some countries in the region if things go as they do today.

In a review of what is happening now in the region and the historical background of the roots of these events, we note that the superpowers are always launched in their strategies and formulations according to their future vision, based on research centers and studies specialized in these matters. What is happening now in the region is only the result of previous perceptions of re-shaping the region according to certain interests; the region has political and religious weight, and economic weight, which is important for the forces.

The strategic visions of these forces are usually based on two tracks: a military track aimed at strong military states, and a moral path aimed at reaching the cultural roots of peoples and nations in the region and working to erode them from inside.

These forces are usually careful not to intervene directly, resort to trying to change from inside the states themselves and what we have seen in some Arab countries is the best evidence on this fact.

As for Turkey, with all its attempts to play on multiple ropes and with its keenness to be balanced relations with Iran and Russia despite historical hostility and avoid political differences with NATO, they cannot maintain these relations in a way that satisfies them; due to the high sensitivity of the elements governing the relationship between them and the importance of status each of which occupies the geopolitical map.

At present, the Turkish role in its many dimensions has raised a lot of controversy about its nature and the reality of its motives. Therefore, the Turkish role is facing many difficulties, the most important of which are: the limits of internal capabilities and the difficulty of maintaining balanced formulations and equations at all levels, internal, regional and international, despite their attempts to benefit from the popular movement in the region( the peoples’ Spring) which Turkey saw as an opportunity to restore its role and realize its hopes of expansion.

If we return to the Syrian situation, it is natural that in turn it will be affected by the new situation, but this influence will depend on the extent to which it is part of it or be neutral, not to mention the negative role of some regional and international countries in addition to the mindset of the rigid and exclusionary regime,  it’s like nothing ever happened.

What is important to us as the Democratic Union Party(PYD) is that the democratic project that we adopt and work to achieve is the basic building block and the safest way to stop the bleeding and to realize the legitimate rights of all the Syrian components and peoples and keep our doors open to all parties to take their place in this democratic project and to protect the gains made by the blood of more than ten thousand martyr.
