HROJ: Turkey is working to revive ISIS

In a statement a few days ago, the official responsible for the human rights organization in northern and eastern Syria said: The Turkish occupation of areas in the north and east of the country caused the displacement of thousands of people, and that Turkey contributed to the revitalization of ISIS

The Turkish state and ISIS and al-Nusra mercenaries are continuing their invasion attacks against North and East Syria since 9 October 2019.

The attacks go with a long list of crimes such as massacre, demographic structure change, torture, plunder and rape in the areas occupied by these Turkey-backed mercenaries.

According to information obtained from reliable sources in Serêkaniyê, Turkish soldiers and mercenaries in the city have sexually assaulted 30 women.

The Jazira District Human Rights Organization continues to document human rights violations in the city.

Jazira District Human Rights Organization co-chair, Evin Cuma, In an interview with Hawar News Agency, she said: that the population is subjected to horrendous attacks and violence carried out by Turkish army and its mercenary allies in the attempt to force the population to leave.

Cuma said that Turkish soldiers and mercenaries are especially targeting women in the areas they occupied and added: “The same crimes were carried out in Afrin and other occupied areas. The attacks of ISIS mercenaries targeting women during the occupation of the region are seen elsewhere today.”

Reminding of the inhuman violence carried out by mercenaries against the bodies of YPJ fighters, Evin said: “These attacks aim at spreading fear among the residents, especially women. The occupiers expect the people to flee their homes so they can carry out the change in the demographic structure they are planning. Moreover, these attacks are also a message towards women’s freedom will.”

Cuma said: “In our interviews with refugee women, we see that all women are afraid of being sexually assaulted by the occupiers. Because Turkish soldiers and mercenaries continue to carry out the same practices ISIS did. The mercenaries for example require even non-Muslim women to wear chador.”
