Today, a delegation from the  Autonomous Administration of North and East of Syria met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.

The delegation included YPJ commander Nesrin Abdullah and North and East Syria Federation Co-chair Hamid al-Mihbash.

The delegation held a press conference there, in which many issues were discussed.

Emmanuel Macron has assured the delegation to continue to provide the Federation of and East Syria with active support in the fight against ISIS.

Al-Mihbash said that the Autonomous Administration needs support in the fight against terrorism and Macron has promised it. “The French President has also promised the Autonomy Board economic and reconstruction assistance.”

Macron stressed that there must be peace and stability on the border with Turkey. “We have been committed to good neighborly relations with Turkey since the beginning,” al-Mehbash said.

Macron has spoken out in favor of continuing support for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Responding to questions from journalists, al-Mehbash said the North East Syria Federation had relations with Russia and was open to talks with the Syrian government: “We keep all doors open for a transition to peace in the interests of the peoples of Syria.”

Regarding the establishment of an international tribunal for ISIS members held in northern Syria, al-Mihbash said the issue was still under discussion: “We have made such a proposal to the international community and wish to see international lawyers because many of the terrorists are coming from the foreign countries.”
