Yasmin al-Ainiya: We hope to reach consensus formula during Syrian-Syrian dialogue

In a statement to the website of the Democratic Union by Yasmin al-Ainiya who is a member of the Syrian Women’s Council and civil society activist on the 3rd Syrian-Syrian Dialogue Forum, held by the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) on 18-19 March of this year, she began her speech by saying: I participated in the third Syrian-Syrian dialogue, which started in July 2018 as a path to resolve the Syrian crisis, where I was invited by the Syrian Women’s Council and I am an activist in civil society and I participated in as an independent.

As for the 3rd  Dialogue Forum held by MSD, it contained a paper containing a series of constitutional principles and a roadmap for resolving the Syrian crisis. This paper was prepared by the party that organized the forum, namely MSD and the Preparatory Committee.

She added that the papers were discussed by the attendees and participants and needed more time and documentation in depth to all what was stated during the forum and not be excluded any idea to reach a consensus helps to continue the process of dialogue, which is the basis for future negotiations.

However, there was a lack of time and a monopoly on ideas. There was no room to listen to different opinions, the effective dialogue should be the house of different poles in order to be more realistic and effective. I, as a participant and despite my reservations about some of the papers that were prepared earlier, as well as some of the contents of the final statement, but I continue to meet and participate with all Syrians in such dialogues, because the attendance, participation and express opinions clearly and transparently help in the future to reach solutions even if the first experiences in the dialogue are immature.

She concluded, “I hope that we reach a consensus formula that guarantees the rights of all Syrian components and ensures the participation of all parties. We asked the preparatory committee to expand the preparation committees for the upcoming meetings and to ensure the circulation of information and the active participation of all.”
