The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) said that the Turkish occupation is working to spread the Corona virus in north Syria as it has helped in spreading terrorism there with an immoral and inhumane attack that is more dangerous towards the people of northern and eastern Syria by cutting off the water of Alouk station from the entire city of al-Hasakah which is inhabited by more than half a million people, not to mention the camps near the city that are suffering from a water scarcity disaster.
The Democratic Society Movement issued a statement in this regard denouncing the violations of the Turkish occupation; the last of which was cutting off water from al-Hasakah. The statement said:
“The first stage of confronting the Corona virus proved complete disability, as all countries and societies are exposed to this real catastrophe. With the emergence of many cases and many deaths in different countries of the world that have led to stopping and paralyzing the natural movement of life and humanity, the entire world is suffering from a state of intense panic and fear and the state of quarantine as the first measure of prevention.
Turkey is also one of the countries that have been subjected to this epidemic, and it may be one of the countries most exposed to cases and deaths as it stated itself. Despite this, it has not stopped practicing its chauvinistic policies against the will of the peoples and societies of northern and eastern Syria, taking advantage of the international circumstances, giving no importance to the international organization UNICEF and others.
The Turkish occupation state helps the spread of this virus as it helps terrorism by launching its immoral, inhumane and most dangerous attack against the peoples of northern and eastern Syria, cutting off the water of Alouk station from the entire city of al-Hasakah where more than half a million people live, not to mention the camps near the city that are suffering from the disaster of water scarcity, as water plays an important role in fighting and preventing the Corona virus. Turkey is trying to kill a large number of people in cold blood in the almost complete absence of international organizations.
We are on the longest border strip with Turkey, and the epidemic is widespread and rampant inside Turkey and is increasing daily. That may come out of Turkey’s control and this is what worries us about its diversion to our regions despite taking the necessary measures, organizing the needs of all components of the region, and issuing many instructions by the Autonomous Administration for North and East Syria in direct coordination with the Health Body with the aim of ensuring protection for society and the prevention mechanism for facing the virus according to our capabilities.
We in the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) call on all components in northern and eastern Syria to adhere to all instructions issued by the Autonomous Administration; staying at homes, not to travel outside the cities, not to allow children to go out to the streets and gardens, in addition to paying more attention and care for them. In order to avoid this dangerous epidemic, the self-protection and the protection of others is one of our ethics.
We also call on the international community and the United Nations organizations to intervene swiftly and take social responsibility towards what the Turkish occupation is doing in Alouk station.
