Ibrahim: PYD Proved itself on Syrian Arena

First of all, we congratulate our brothers in PYD on the 16th anniversary of their party founding, wishing them to achieve their goals and aspirations they have set in mind since the foundation.

With these words, Nasr al-Din Ibrahim, secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria (Parti), started his speech to the Democratic Union site on the occasion of the anniversary of the party founding.

“The announcement of the establishment of PYD in 2003, came as a realistic decision after several variables at that stage, especially after its Kurdistani line was exposed to many challenges, so it decided  to establish a Syrian party believes in its former Kurdish ideology,” added Ibrahim.

He added, ” After that stage, the party persisted in proving itself on the Kurdish scene in Syria, especially with regard to two separate events (the Qamshilo Uprising 2004) and (the Popular Revolution in Syria 2011), where it showed great ability to adapt to the changes, invested by taking advantage of its Kurdish relations and understandings. Today, sixteen years after its establishment, the PYD is leading the experience of the Autonomous Administration  in northern and eastern Syria as a young experience with many pros and cons, but it remains a quantum leap in the process of national liberation for our Kurdish people in Syria, and the people living with it in north and eastern Syria, and certainly founding of (YPG- YPJ) SDF was a significant step in achieving what we are witnessing today of significant gains.”

In another connection, Ibrahim said,” PYD worked hard during the past eight years, and at this stage it have to carry out radical reforms affecting the intellectual, administrative and political structure of the Autonomous Administration and the pattern of dealing, especially the real acceptance of the principle of partnership, the independence of the Kurdish political decision in Syria, and push a (Kurdish-Kurdish) dialogue to reach the formation of a comprehensive Kurdish political umbrella for most of the Kurdish political forces in Syria and be the decision-maker first and last.”

Ibrahim concluded by stating, “the party is also asked to correct the path of the Autonomous Administration and combat patronage and corruption, and work quickly to improve the living situation of citizens, and review a number of unconsidered decisions related to the livelihood of the citizen, especially the recent decisions relating to agriculture and oil.”
