US-Turkish Joint Patrol East of Gire Spi Canton

The Turkish armored vehicles have entered the Syrian territories this morning to conduct the first joint ground patrol with the US military in the area which was previously agreed on to establish a the proposed safe zone.

According to North-Press reporter from the ground, the Us-Turkish joint ground patrol is now taking place on the Syrian-Turkish borders between the cities of Sere-Kaniye (Ras Al-Ain) and Gire Spi (Tal Abyad).

The joint patrol, consisted of 6 Turkish armored vehicles, 4 American armored vehicles and two minesweepers for the US Army, amid intensive air flight of the American and Turkish helicopters.

The joint patrol headed towards the point of Hashisha village followed by the village of Guilan (30-35 km) east of Gire Spi (Tal Abyad), across the road on the borders, which the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) had filled their trenches there, in addition to the withdrawal of SDF from the area to implement the agreement in coordination with the US military, in order the Turkish forces can detect the designated area, and make sure that they are removed.

The co-chair of Tal Abyad Military Council told North-Press that the joint patrols will be implemented in coordination with their forces on the ground which were deployed in the area in line with the agreement of the “security mechanism”, pointing out that their forces are currently occupying the position of the SDF, who had earlier withdrawn from the area.

While the Turkish Defense Minister earlier said that the Turkish forces will begin joint patrols with the US military in the designated area for establishing a safe zone in the eighth of September.
